Gravity Kiss
Every once in a while people ask me if I use ref when I draw and the answer is NO 99.999999 % of the time. But when I paint (which isn't often enough) I absolutely use it. It's my handicap as I need it to figure out my lighting. As you can see in the below process piece I dont use ref pics it to figure out my color. I generally like to push the color to a more saturate state much like my drawing :)
Finding ref pics is a real hassel!!! Maybe one day I will hire models and light them myself but that seems like an even bigger hassel! :)

Beyound cool!! Thank you for showing this sample. I have to use ref for vehicles, i am veeeeery bad at it, even on simple things as a bike.

Hey Dan, I'm not really looking to go down the desaturated palettes of Leyendecker. But i do love his graphic brush strokes and that is what i am certanly going to try and steal :) ps. I'm so sorry I haven't called yet.

this is awesome sir, I'm really diggin' the stroke usage, J.C Leyendecker is incredibly talented...I really love the blend of your shapes mixed with some of his painterly touches, interesting and very inspirational.
